UTAMU – Greenbridge Partnership to Fill the ICT & Entrepreneurial Skills Gap in Uganda

UTAMU is jointly working with Greenbridge School of Open Technologies to fill the ICT and entrepreneurial gap among youth in Uganda.

“The two institutions all have a niche in talent development. Therefore with this partnership, we will tap into the core competencies of the two institutions such as giving the relevant skills to a 21st century student,” says Dr. Drake Mirembe, Dean School of Professional and Vocational Education (SPVE).

He made the remarks at partnership meeting held Friday, 14 July 2017 at Greenbridge facility at Makerere Hill in Kampala.

Some of the possible partnerships discussed at the meeting include; internship opportunities, joint community and organizational outreaches, joint trainings in short courses, sharing of experts among others.

The UTAMU team was represented by Dr. Drake Mirembe (Dean SPVE), Mr Mersian Tulyahebwa (Academic Registrar), Baker Ssekitto (Senior Account), Ms. Linda Alum (Registrar SPVE), Mr. Simon Kamya (multimedia Expert) and Ms. Anita Ashaba (PRO).

On 5th July 2017, UTAMU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Greenbridge to deliver high end computing needs to Ugandans. In partnership with Greenbridge, UTAMU will be able to tap into more advanced computing technologies that will benefit its students.

“Together with UTAMU, we will deliver high end computing needs to the youth, impart them with skills that will help them empower themselves in the employment world,” said Dr. Milk Singh, the Director at Greenbridge School after signing the MoU.
