UTAMU Guild Election Preps Underway

HE Sadat Anywar, the UTAMU Guild President’s term of office seems to have come to an end as the Electoral Commission hastens to prepare elections for new Guild leaders.

The commission is currently giving out nomination forms which candidates will use to collect signatures and preparations for campaigns will then commence.

The 5-man committee headed by Mr. Tamale Clephophas has vowed to do everything within its mandate to pull off a free and fair election in a peaceful environment “We want to assure the entire student body that elections will be peaceful”.

Some of the requirements according to the UTAMU Guild Constitution include; candidates should be fully registered, should be on normal academic progress, should not have been convicted by courts of law for any offence and should pay for nomination forms.

The Chairperson also revealed that the election road map and dates for all activities will be communicated soon. He welcomed new students and encouraged continuing students to take elective positions and participate in the upcoming exercise.

Electoral positions currently available are for Guild President and Guild Representatives. The electoral Commission was sworn in on 11th November 2017 as per the Guild constitution provisions and it consists of the Chairperson, Commissioner of Finance, Secretary and Commissioner of Public Relations.
