Uganda Technology And Management University Welcomes Students for the January 2022 Intake

On the 10th of January 2022, the management and staff of Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) welcomed the students of the January 2022 intake to the great and mighty university. The students were ushered into their new beginning in a two day orientation session where they were briefed on issues that would guarantee their smooth stay at UTAMU. They were joined by continuing students, the Guild President H. E. Kayizzi Patrick who received them with remarks of assurance and an enjoyable study environment. At UTAMU we believe that no man is an island and thus we need each other to progress and in that spirit is why continuing students joined in to welcome their fellow students.

The orientation session was virtual and physical because we are a university of diverse learning. UTAMU offers its services through e-learning, face to face and blended teaching techniques and it was exhibited at the orientation with some students in physical attendance and other attending virtually. We are a client-centered university that ensures that our students receive a service at their convenience.

Several departments and schools participated in this orientation and these were the ICT department which is the heart of the university being that the university specializes in technology, science and management. At UTAMU, the knowledge and application of technology and related services is key to guaranteeing a smooth stay. That’s why the students were trained on the first day in the areas of the e-learning platform, e-library access, management of student emails and internet connectivity and other resources offered at the UTAMU Campus.

UTAMU has highly skilled ICT personnel who are committed to servicing the students at any time of the day and ably reached on phone and emails. This is the team that met the students at orientation – Mr. Obed Mogeni, Mr. Faik Kasawuli and Mr. Abu-Baker Nsobya.

Day 2 was also another exciting day of the orientation where the students met their Deans and Heads of Administrative departments including; the offices of the University Controller- CPA Assumpta M. Nabachwa, University Library – Ms. Mirembe Florence, Academic Registrar – Ms. Nakawunde Grace, Deans of Schools; Computing and Engineering – Prof. Fred Jjunju, Graduate School – Dr. Okwadi Tukei, Humanities and Social Sciences – Associate Professor Michael Maxel Okoche, UTAMU Business School – Dr. Joseph Baleke Yiga Lubega and the School of Education, Vocation and Technical Education – Mr. Mersian Tulyahebwa.

At the end of it all, the orientation was crowned by an address from the vice chancellor Prof. Eddy Kurobuza Tukamushaba who emphasized the need for an open mind at UTAMU guided by the UTAMU motto “FOR AN OPEN MIND”. He offered the assurance to the students that the purpose to which they have come to UTAMU will be realized in immeasurable ways, emphasis was on the university core values, the vision and mission which we relate to in offering professional and student-centered education services.
